keep it wild

Time to write a new "About Me" entry. Oh, yes, how exciting. So what's there to know about me? Good question. I'm assuming that if you're reading this, you already know everything interesting about me. I am A) a 37 year old South African who used to work with wildlife and is currently working on a career as project manager and B) there is no B. Yes, I'm boring, but in my defense, you're probably boring too. So who are you to judge me? I don't need your pity! Seriously (if I may get serious for a moment) I'm just a guy who takes life as it comes. I consider myself introspective, intelligent, philosophical, and very attractive. Yes, I'm a handsome man and have no trouble admitting that. I'm also a talented writer and a fairly decent human being. Maybe about an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I have no problem tooting my own horn, but I also realize how insignificant we all are in the scope of things and think we're all here to help each other get through this thing called Life. What more is there to say? Welcome to my tumblr page.

Movies I like to watch:
Documentaries. Crime and detective stories. All the soppy period dramas EXCEPT anything from Charles Dickens. Nothing where everybody dies in the end and I learn that life is bleak and pointless and we'd all have been better off not being born. I don't need to watch a movie to know that so push off, sunshine. Nothing with Kinda Gay vampires AND / OR Keira Knigthley. No coming of age stories EXCEPT Labyrinth. No Horror Porn. None! Move it along, buddy. Anything animated EXCEPT where the animation is too lifelike and kinda creepy in the process. I'm looking at you, Polar Express.

I want to meet:
People, Robots, Desmond Tutu and whatever other sentient life forms deign to make themselves known to me. I'm not picky. So until further notice we'll just keep things informal.

Learn the gumboot dance

Background:

Gumboot dancing was created in the gold mines during the days of South Africa’s apartheid era. Wearing gumboots in the mines, the workers developed an exuberant and very physical dance form during their breaks, with hints of German country dances, native Zulu movements and western influences

The miners were forbidden to speak in the mines and as a result created a means of communication, essentially their own unique form of Morse code. By slapping their gumboots and rattling their ankle chains the workers sent messages to each other.
